#135 – I’ve got Bob Dylan on repeat 🎶🎸

I always have Bob Dylan playing either in the car, on my phone or on vinyl. He’s the best to listen to, his songs have such vivid imagery and descriptive and often vague references. Dylan has been at the forefront of change in music as well as society for over 60 years now.

There’s been 2 songs in particular the past few months that I just can’t help but play over and over. They’re just sticking with me and the lyrics are so beautiful and mysterious. The 2 songs in particular are Sara & Simple twist of fate take 3a.

Bob Dylan is the greatest talent in music. The best singer / songwriter of the 20th century. To me there’s music, there’s genres of music; Rock, Pop, Rap, R&B and then there’s Bob Dylan. He’s defined himself as a style as a genre. His voice is instantly recognisable as Dylan.

Both songs are songs around love and of course loss also. The best thing that a song and a singer or group can do is to tell a story through their words. Bob Dylan has always had an ability to paint a picture with his words.

I feel relaxed, inspired and the weight of the words he chooses to use. If you’ve not heard any of these songs try them out and give a listen to. I give them both.

  1. Dylan is by far my all time favorite (shh don’t tell the Beatles or Stones or Springsteen!) Tangled Up In Blue is my forever favorite. Every version, every time, from starting note to the tail of the last one dying off…. a joy overwhelms me with that song, and I don’t know why.

    1. I couldn’t agree more and I absolutely adore the Rolling Stones and Warren Zevon but Dylan reigns supreme. I totally get it though so many of his songs a just can’t help listen to over and over again. Tangled up in blue, just like a woman, Jokerman, Simple twist of fate take 3a is my favourite but he’s unexplainable and fills me with so much joy to hear his voice

      1. Jokerman isn’t in my list – oddly, it’s a Traveling Wilbury’s song “Tweeter and the Monkey Man” that makes my list like that most of the time. The rest of the list is spot on. Did you ever hear Dylan and Cash together?
