#279 – Air movie review

I went to the cinema to see the latest Ben Affleck directed film and considering it’s been 7 years since his last one he clearly hasn’t missed a step. Air is the true story of the man who signed Micheal Jordan to Nike and saving their basketball department while making billions in the process.

I really enjoyed this film and even knowing the ending, I mean air Jordan’s are the best selling shoe of all time after all. The film is excellently paced and so incredibly well acted by an incredible cast. Matt Damon,Ben Affleck, Jason Bateman, Chris Tucker, Viola Davis all give great performances. For me one of my favourite characters was the agent for Michael Jordan played by Chris Messina. The way he plays this character is like a mix between Joe Pesci and Ari Gold from Entourage. He has one scene where he absolutely loses it on the phone with Matt Damon and he goes full berserker mode to hilarious effect. The story has so much heart and genuine attention given to it’s characters that it really draws you in and gets you invested in what happened behind the scenes of the world’s most popular shoe.

Air is a well written, acted, directed compelling story with the feel of an old school Scorsese film from the seventies. Great one to go and see on the big screen that’s for sure !

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 7/10
